Resolutions: Restarting your life
Often, the start of a new year presents a convenient opportunity for people to make a break with their past, to recast their past and craft a new future life path for themselves. Some, it should be conceded, are too cynical to subscribe to the concept of self-renewal or to appreciate the value of using a new year as a useful moment for a new life path.
Nature, in its infinite wisdom, has divined in every person the resilience to persevere, the resourcefulness to prevail, and the right to succeed at whatever the individual sets their mind to. The world's most successful executive coach, Debra Benton, wisely advises a mindset that believes "this I am today, that I will be tomorrow". The simple wisdom in this advise cannot be overstated.
It is obvious that time can teach all things to whoever lives forever. Fortunately, we do not have the luxury of forever. Many have written exhaustively on this subject. What's most pertinent is that since we do not have a forever in which to learn all things, and since we cannot re-live the past, we are compelled to exercise our options over the present. WE have this moment and the next moments to come, each in sequence, and only for an undefined duration. Therefore, if our first and sacred goal becomes to do now, this day, the tasks that are at hand, then our future can become dramatically different from our past.
So..., this moment "has" arrived!
Of course, one formula does not necessarily fit all individual life circumstances. However, to begin a new life today, there are some basic steps, call them nature's gems, which can help us on our way.
WISDOMWORLD SIMPLE SEVEN
(1) Do not accept negative or diminishing input from anyone - including from yourself.
(2) Start and end each day on a positive note, on a positive thought, on a positive deed.
(3) Mentally reward each and every accomplishment (including your own) with a conscious commendation.
(4) Welcome demanding challenges (and their hidden seeds for self-fulfillment). Seek new peaks to conquer. Shed unnecessary knowledge and worthless experience. This means never again settle for the convenient first option that presents itself to you. What worked yesterday will not necessarily work for you today, and what didn't work for you yesterday just might work today.
(5) Actively seek positive-minded environments, friends, readings, entertainment.
(6) Learn to "love" to listen, to observe, to reflect, to speak never in haste.
(7) Seek not just peace of mind; seek instead the peace of God in your mind.

It is actually very meaningful to read your "nature's gems" today although it is already August. It tells us that every moment of our life could be an opportunity to reset and restart your life. I am glad that I can start the simple seven steps today rather than awaiting for the New Year's Day 2007! Thank you very much.
